Wienerschnitzel is ringing in 2019 as only the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain can – with a special 99-cent price on its famous Chili Cheese Fries on January 1 and the return of its Pastrami menu for a limited time.

Chili fans can swing by their neighborhood Wienerschnitzel to enjoy French Fries topped with cheese and the restaurant chain’s world-famous chili for just 99 cents. The special one-day-only price is valid on Jan. 1 only. There is a limit of five Chili Cheese Fries per person.

Once again, the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain acknowledges the nation’s finest on Veteran’s Day

Veterans Day gives Americans the chance to acknowledge the bravery and sacrifice of U.S. veterans and those currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces. This year, on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War I, Wienerschnitzel is once again honoring all veterans and those in active and reserve military duty with a free Chili Dog, small fries and 20 oz. drink.

This special offer is valid on Nov. 11 only at participating Wienerschnitzel restaurants nationwide. To receive the free meal, guests need to present a valid military or veteran ID card or wear their military uniform. There is a limit of one free meal per veteran or military member.

As sponsor of 2019 AAF National Student Advertising Competition, fast food chain will ask the next generation of advertising executives to change the misconceptions of the hot dog

The World’s Largest Hot Dog chain with 340 locally owned restaurants in 11 states is reaching out to America’s future advertising and marketing leaders to help it improve public perceptions of the hot dog.

Announced last month by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) as the official corporate sponsor of its 2019 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC), Irvine, Calif.-based Wienerschnitzel today revealed the unique marketing challenge it will be giving the more than 2,000 advertising students participating in next year’s competition at more than 150 U.S. colleges and universities nationwide.

According to Doug Koegeboehn, Wienerschnitzel’s chief marketing officer, instead of the usual NSAC assignment to increase sales or market share for a specific brand or business, Wienerschnitzel is using its partnership with AAF to elevate consumer perceptions surrounding one of America’s favorite foods: the hot dog.

“Hot dogs are universally beloved – but most people simply don’t know about the quality ingredients and time-honored traditions that go into making them. In fact, more and more chefs today are even considering them ‘epicurean.’”

“For example, while a hamburger is just ground beef, this is where the fun and attention to detail starts with a hot dog. The ground beef is cold-processed and seasoned with herbs and spices before a special emulsification process gives it the iconic ‘hot dog’ shape we all know and love. The hot dogs are then carefully smoked over maple and other hard woods to give them their distinctive taste, It’s a process that few, if any, of the most ardent home cooks could ever replicate at home.”

“Strengthening public perceptions about the hot dog will improve our business and elevate the entire hot dog industry, and we’re looking forward to seeing how the student teams tackle the challenge.”

Wienerschnitzel joins previous sponsors Nissan, Snapple, Yahoo! and others to provide a “real-world” marketing challenge to advertising and marketing students who develop and pitch an integrated campaign to a panel of industry judges.

The challenge brief is being distributed to schools this month, with regional competitions kicking off in April 2019 and the top student teams in each of 15 districts moving on to the semifinals in May 2019. The final eight teams will compete at the NSAC finals, held in conjunction with the AAF’s annual ADAMERICA conference, in June 2019 in Hollywood, Fla.

World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain will assign a “real-world” marketing challenge to student teams from close to 200 colleges across the country

Wienerschnitzel, the world’s largest hot dog chain with 333 locally owned restaurants in 11 states, has been chosen as the official corporate sponsor of the 2019 National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) for the American Advertising Federation (AAF).

As official sponsor, Wienerschnitzel joins previous sponsors like Nissan, Snapple and Yahoo! to provide a “real-world” marketing assignment to advertising and marketing students at over 150 colleges and universities in the U.S. who will develop and pitch an integrated campaign to a panel of judges. Wienerschnitzel’s specific assignment, which will focus on hot dogs, will be revealed later this year.

“Drive-Thru Life” chronicles the personal and professional life of John Galardi Family-written tribute is now available for free at www.wienerschnitzel.com

The year was 1961. John F. Kennedy was sworn-in as the 35th President, Alan Shepard blasted into space aboard the Freedom 7, “West Side Story” ruled the box office and Roy Orbison’s “Crying” topped the music charts.

Meanwhile, in the then-sleepy Los Angeles suburb of Wilmington, Calif., a 23-year-old Missouri native opened a simple walk-up restaurant with a funny name and a specialty in just one item: the hot dog.

By the time that initial stand had grown into a series of iconic A-frames scattered across Southern California, Wienerschnitzel – or “Der Wienerschnitzel” as it was known then – had grown into the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain. Today, Wienerschnitzel sells 120 million hot dogs annually at 333 restaurants in 11 states.

The life of John Galardi, the founder that started it all, is chronicled in a new biography now available for free public download. The 164-page Drive Through Life was written and published as a tribute by the Galardi family – Cindy Galardi Culpepper, son J.R. Galardi and daughters Skylar Galardi, Teresa Galardi Hinkel and Karen Galardi – five years after his death in 2013 at the age of 75.

Born in 1938 in Missouri, Galardi moved with his family to California in 1956 where he met Glen Bell, Jr., another fast food pioneer who mentored him as a Taco Bell manager before Galardi opened the first Der Wienerschnitzel five years later (and dropped the “Der” to make it just Wienerschnitzel in 1977).

In addition to other pioneering moves, Galardi made Wienerschnitzel one of the first fast food chains in the U.S. to feature drive-through service, and designed his first restaurants specifically with the Southern California motorist in mind – a practice that is commonplace today.

Highlights of the 13-chapter book include personal and professional anecdotes, historical photos, original Wienerschnitzel ads and an epilogue with remembrances by 23 family members and friends.

Wienerschnitzel once again finds itself at the center of a celebration in August thanks to the arrival of two classic summertime treats.

Less than a month after its 57th Anniversary and National Hot Dog Day, the beloved hot dog chain honors National Root Beer Float Day on Monday, Aug. 6, with the offer of a free Mug® Root Beer Float with any purchase all day on the holiday. Wienerschnitzel’s version of the famous drink dating back to 1874 is made with Mug Root Beer and Tastee-Freez® Soft Serve to pair perfectly with hot dogs.

The National Hot Dog and Sausage Council created National Hot Dog Day in 1991 to give hot dog lovers their very own holiday. This year, the special day falls on July 18 — and the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain is celebrating with an exclusive, one-day offer.

Known as the home of the world’s most-wanted wiener, Irvine, Calif.-based Wienerschnitzel is offering five of its legendary World Famous Chili Dogs for $5. The special price is valid only on July 18 at participating Wienerschnitzel restaurants in 11 states.

National Hot Dog Day is typically one of Wienerschnitzel’s busiest days of the year. There is no limit to the number of hot dogs that hungry hot dog fans can purchase however the offer is only valid while supplies last.

The World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain’s annual anniversary offering gets bigger every year

Wienerschnitzel turns 57 this year and to celebrate, the iconic hot dog chain is offering its world-famous hot dogs for just 57 cents on Tuesday, July 10.

Fast food pioneer John Galardi opened his first Wienerschnitzel in Wilmington, Calif., in 1961. To commemorate nearly six decades of hot-dog-loving fun, the Irvine, Calif.-based chain is offering fans everywhere a special 57-cent price for its World Famous Chili Dog, a grilled hot dog topped with Wienerschnitzel’s secret recipe chili.

The special price is valid only on July 10 from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. while supplies last at participating Wienerschnitzel restaurants. There is a limit of 10 hot dogs per customer.

Wienerschnitzel’s annual anniversary offer typically attracts tens of thousands of hot dog lovers at its 333 company-owned and franchised stores in 11 states.

“The Chili Dogs are the hot dogs that have made Wienerschnitzel famous and have been on our menu since Day 1,” said J.R. Galardi, president at Wienerschnitzel and son of founder John Galardi. “We recognize this milestone every year by serving Dad’s favorite menu item at a special price. After all, it’s our devoted fans who turned that first hot dog stand into the World’s Largest Hot Dog Chain.”

John Galardi moved to Los Angeles at the age of 19 with a vision to start his own hot dog business. Today, that commitment to a whole new type of fast food has grown to 120 million hot dogs served annually throughout the West.

“Wienerschnitzel holds a special place in the hearts of our fans — many who’ve grown up with us and are now introducing their kids and grandkids to the classic Wienerschnitzel experience,” said Cindy Galardi Culpepper, CEO of Galardi Group, the parent company of Wienerschnitzel. “We look forward to offering up everyone’s favorite hot dogs for generations to come.”
